Judging for the Garden Competition this year was done on Sunday 23rd August by Robin Russell and Peter Short.

This year the competition was for individual gardens, unlike previous years when groups of gardens were judged as an entity.

IYN In Bloom - 'Outstanding'!!!!

The pressure was on for this year after two very successful campaigns. Despite the inclement weather earlier in the summer, the Garden Competition was one of the best we have had ending for a very narrow win for Coplow Terrace. The In Bloom Assessment was the following day and at the Presentation Awards Ceremony in September, we found out that

2014 was a good another good year

three years in a row...

IYN In Bloom - 'Outstanding'!!!!

Another successful campaign this year. Despite the abnormally cold weather early in the Summer, we were able to make a good display for the Judges. We were aiming to maintain the standard we had reached in 2012 and again we did it!!!

In 2013, the Judges gave us

for the second year in a row...

IYN In Bloom - 'Outstanding'!!!!

We entered the "RHS It's Your Neighbourhood In Bloom" competition again this year - the judging was carried out on a very wet 18th July.

With the added impetus of the Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics, we used them to provide the themes for our communal basket flowers, so this year they were either 'Fly the Flag' or 'Going for Gold'! We also continued our extension of the number of streets and households taking part and, this year, we aimed to improve on our 'Thriving' award from 2011.

And we did it!

Our grading from the Judges for 2012 was

North Summerfield Garden Competition

This year's Garden Competition was held on Sunday 10th June. Despite the recent bad weather, we were lucky to have two dry and warm days, which made for a very successful competition and get-together on the Green.

The deserved winners this year were Victoria Buildings - the judges were very impressed by the remarkable improvement since last year and the evident community effort which went into this.

Last year's winners Coplow Terrace were placed second and Coplow Cottages were third.

The judges, Ken Whitaker and Robin Russell from the RHS and Harry Naylor of the Ladywood Voice, also commended 16 gardens. Over 140 houses took part in the competition and everyone who did received a rosette.

The Garden Competition was held on Sunday 10th June between 11.00am and 1.30pm followed by a get-together on The Green for refreshments and presentation of the awards.

The competition was based on the prevous year's model; the prize is awarded to the best area. Last year it was won by Coplow Terrace but there are significant challenges being mounted by others and this year promises to be a very close competition. The judges are from the Royal Horticultural Society and they will also rate individual gardens - commended gardens will receive a commemorative fridge magnet and every household that takes part will receive a gold rosette.

Plant Sales

Plant sales have become a regular feature of our Saturday mornings either in Coplow Street or on the 'Gazebo on the Green'; we have grown many of these flowers from seed and, therefore, we have been able to significantly improve on garden centre prices. We are also providing baskets and troughs which we will plant to your choice or you can join our workshop groups and do-it yourself!

Our Assessment upgraded to 'Thriving'!!!!!!!!

In 2011, a larger part of the North Summerfield Area has been included. The judging took place on 22nd July between 11.15 am and 12.30 pm followed by light refreshments on the Green.
